Welcome to ENG3902 Professional Practice.
This course is offered in Semester 2 for on-campus and external students. It is a practice course and most of the course activities occur during residential school in September. Both on-campus as well as external students have to attend residential school in Toowoomba. There is a introductory lecture in Week 1 and all students have to organise and attend their own half-day CPD activity.
ENG3902 Professional practice 1 differs from other technical practice courses that you have attended until now. It is not discipline specific and the course focuses on a range of transferable skills, rather than specific technical skills. Most activities related to this course take place during the September residential school. This applied to both on-campus and external students. Some activities have to be completed prior to Residential School.
This practice course is one of the later stage practice courses in your program and is therefore concerned with senior-level work: it is a pre-requisite for ENG4903 Professional practice 2. ENG3902 also addresses some of the important general aspects of the practice of professional engineering and professional surveying which are largely independent of the engineering or surveying discipline. To a large extent these are non-technical matters.
USQStudyDesk is used as the main point of contact for ENG3902 Professional practice 1. Make sure you visit the StudyDesk early in the semester and a couple of weeks before Residential Schools. Please make sure that you read the news posts regularly as important updates are announce in the forum.
